AZ Veterans Are Finally Being Laid To Rest After years of being stored on a mortuary shelf, the cremated remains of seven American veterans are finally being laid to rest, including a WWII/Korean War recipient of a Bronze Star and a Korean War recipient of a Purple Heart. On October 27, 2008 the first seven veterans located and identified by the Arizona Missing In America Project will be transported from the Apache Junction Mortuary to the Arizona National Memorial Cemetery, where they will be interred with Full Military Honors. The remains of Major Shirl L Terry, a WWII/Korean War Bronze Star recipient, has remained "unclaimed" on a mortuary shelf awaiting proper interment for over 18 years. The remains of Petty Officer 2nd Class Lee John Boston, who served in the Navy during WWII, has remained shelved for over 20 years. These seven veterans, combined, served their country during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The Interment will be conducted at the Arizona National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on 27 October 2008. The public is invited. These seven veterans will be escorted from Apache Junction Mortuary to the National Cemetery by motorcycle escort provided by the Old Guard Riders. Other organizations wishing to participate in the escort are asked to contact Ron Eppich, OGR President, to make arrangements.
