Old Guard Riders As A Public Charity

Old Guard Riders Inc is incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Arizona. The organization's 501c3 status has been confirmed by the IRS beginning November 2007.  Old Guard Riders Inc. has further been given the IRS classification as a 509a1 and 170b1A(vi) public charity within the United States. All donations to Old Guard Riders Inc. are tax deductible in the USA.

What does all that mean?

Old Guard Riders is a legally constituted corporation whose objective is to engage in activities of public interest without regard for commercial or monetary profit.


The Mission of the Old Guard Riders

The MISSION of the Old Guard Riders, as stated in the Old Guard Riders Articles of Incorporation, is to initiate, sponsor, promote, coordinate, conduct and support activities which provide monetary and other resources to assist America's active duty military, veterans and/or their families in need.

Resources, as used in the Mission Statement, are defined as food, clothing, shelter and other articles essential to achieve a  reasonable level of life and comfort.

The Mission of the Old Guard Riders can be divided into two categories; Service and Charity.

 


Old Guard Riders Inc as a Service Organization

As a service organization, the members of the Old Guard Riders:

  • initiate, sponsor and participate in events which honor America's active duty military, veterans and their families.

  • provide a flag line and motorcade services for deceased active duty military (particularly KIA) and veterans.

  • provide a flag line and motorcade (when appropriate) for annual memorial services for deceased active duty military and veterans.

  • schedule visits and special events at VA facilities, nursing homes and other places where ill, aging, injured, disabled and disadvantaged  active duty military and veterans reside.

  • Initiate, sponsor and participate in service projects which assist active duty military, veterans and/or their families in accordance with the OGR Mission statement.

  • actively encourage youth organizations, such as the Boy Scouts of America and ROTC programs, to initiate service projects which assist active duty military, veterans and their families.

  • actively support other organization's activities and programs which serve active duty military, veterans and their families.

  • actively participate in such programs as the Missing In America Project, whose mission is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed remains of America's veterans, now warehoused in mortuary, funeral home and cemetery shelves.

Old Guard Riders Inc. as a Charity

As a 501(C)(3) public charity, members of the Old Guard Riders:

  • initiate, sponsor and support fundraising activities which assist active duty military (including National Guard) and their families during difficult times (such as extended and repeated deployments) with financial and other emergency and critical relief.

  • identify and locate injured and disabled veterans, and provide them with wheel chairs, scooters or other essential medical items, as may be required, to help the veteran overcome his/her physical challenges.

  • conduct food, clothing, and other drives necessary to provide such goods to homeless veterans and other veterans, in accordance with the OGR Mission Statement.

  • donate money and goods to other eligible 501C3 organizations, such as homeless shelters, food banks and job training/ assistance centers, which provide critical goods and services to veterans in need.
