Guidelines for participation in Sisterhood activities

All of the guidelines listed below should be a matter of simple common sense.

Once an OGR Sisterhood activity is confirmed, it will be posted on the Upcoming Events page and posted on the OGR and Sisterhood Forum. Once it has been posted, check back periodically for updates.

Unless otherwise posted, please do not bring your children to Sisterhood functions. Many functions, such as hospital visits, will not permit children to participate for obvious reasons. While we are engaged in Sisterhood activities, we must keep our attention focused on the task at hand, not watching and caring for our children. If children are allowed at a particular function, it will noted within the event information

Absolutely no alcohol is permitted during Sisterhood activities. Just the smell of alcohol on your breathe could be enough to adversely reflect upon The Sisterhood, as well as the Old Guard Riders, and could adversely affect the ability of The Sisterhood to return to the location of the activity. Hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities can be very sensitive about certain issues while within their facilities. Continued violations of this rule may result in your removal from The Sisterhood.

Common sense:

  • No firearms.

  • No illegal drugs.

  • No alcohol

Prescription medications are always permitted and encouraged.

You can only make a first impression one time. Arrive clean, neat and well rested. Dress appropriately for the activity. Never doubt that our organization will be judged by our appearance and our demeanor.

Check weather reports not only for where you are leaving from, but the weather at the location where you are going.

Always arrive on time for the scheduled activity. If you are not present at the prescribed time and place, we will be forced to proceed without you. Be punctual.

Upon arrival at the function, locate and sign the Liability Waiver form. This is required for participation in any Sisterhood activity.

While participating in The Sisterhood activity, please remember to turn off your cell phones or place them on vibrate only. Ringing cell phones during an activity is disrespectful and distracting.

Unless otherwise appropriate, keep talking, laughter and other noise to a minimum.

The Director of The Sisterhood is the final authority on any matter pertaining to The Sisterhood. Any questions that you may have should be directed to your local officers or State Coordinator.  If your questions or concerns that are not being addressed, please contact the Jamie Thomas, Director.

Do not be embarrassed about asking a question. If you are unsure about something, others in the group probably are as well. Better to ask the question than deal with a problem later.

Unlike some similar groups, we are an association. As an Association, we encourage members of The Sisterhood to interact with one another and the organization even when we are not involved in a activity, event or function.

Remember that participation in 510(c)(3) activities, such as Old Guard Riders' and The Sisterhood is tax deductible. Keep track of every activity that you attend and how many miles that you traveled during that activity. Check with your tax preparer or the IRS for the amount per mile that is tax deductible.
